The creative spark for the S1 Project Coupè was simple but not trivial: to create a car that possessed an extreme design and exceptional performance, centred around an authentic and unfiltered driving experience. Inspired by the design philosophy of the most iconic racing prototypes of the 1970s and 1980s, S1 Project Coupè was born: the vision of the hypercar by ARES Modena. We created S1 Project Speedster to bring the experience of driving a supercar back to a more authentic and visceral level. An experience that uses today's technologies and materials to rediscover sensations of yesteryear. But that wasn't enough; we wanted to go further and create something absolutely unique: here is S1 Project Speedster, the ultimate open-air hypercar driving experience. Thrill, performance, sophistication, design: this is the ARES S1 Project Speedster.
With a short, sharp front-end, pronounced wheel arches, forward sitting cockpit and a wraparound windscreen,
the S1 Project Coupè was developed to recreate the sensations reminiscent of race cars of yesteryear The ARES' Centro Stile has designed
an aggressive but flowing stance while producing maximum downforce and minimum aerodynamic resistance. Its sleek composition and
performance are enhanced by its dynamic rear spoiler and the eye-catching exhaust exiting the bonnet – an iconic-styled feature
specifically created to optimise aerodynamics and leave the rear extractor area free and clean. Careful stylistic and aerodynamic
research has led to a perfect integration of functional and aesthetic elements to create a timelessly shaped car that will not lose
its appeal over the years.
The mesmerising looking exterior of the S1 Project Coupè was designed by ARES Modena's Centro Stile, employing extensive CFD studies to ensure the ultimate in aerodynamic performance and stability.
With the evolution of the S1 Project platform, the S1 Project Speedster continues the stylistic path already taken by ARES Modena
with the S1 Spyder but introduces a new, exciting Targa design. The S1 Project Speedster was conceived for those wanting to experience the thrill of
open-top sports driving but also looking for a more comfortable and refined experience. This experience is guaranteed with the S1 Project Speedster
thanks to the aerodynamic protection offered by the new wraparound and streamlined windscreen, perfectly connected to the curved and muscular
lines of the carbon fibre bodywork. The cockpit is entirely enveloped by glass surfaces, which connect in a single line with the rear engine bonnet above the headrests.
The S1 Project Speedster fully embodies all the values of the ARES design language, where form meets function to offer unique style, unparalleled dynamic performance and a refined, exciting driving experience.
Inside the S1 Project Coupè, the interior reveals the use of essential but minimal lines creating a 3D effect enveloping both driver and passenger with the car’s HMI contained within the central console and dashboard. ARES' expert artisans painstakingly care about styling and materials, finishing the forward sitting cockpit using the finest Alcantara and Napa leather and using carbon fibre panels, creating a stunning yet functional ambience designed to emphasise the driving pleasure and sensations experienced behind the wheel of the S1 Project Coupè.
The S1 Project Speedster's interior has been carefully designed to optimise and emphasise the dynamic experience of the occupants. The distinctive "domes" above the cockpit characterise the driving environment and the new infotainment system with three different displays: one in front of the driver and a smaller one for the passenger. In keeping with the tradition of every ARES Modena project, the customisation possibilities are virtually endless in terms of colours, finishes and materials. However, in the cabin's centre, the exposed carbon fibre tunnel remains in full view: a choice dictated by the desire to leave exposed a portion of the S1 Project Speedster's "soul", intrinsically tied to this precious material.
A powerful engine, a responsive chassis, a cutting-edge gearbox: are the critical elements for a direct and immersive driving experience. Beneath the carbon fibre bodywork, S1 Project Coupè houses a naturally aspirated V8 engine with direct injection. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. At the same time, the handling is assured by its double-wishbone suspensions, forged aluminium axles and adaptive Magnetic Ride Control. Dynamic performance has been improved by carefully studying the car’s aerodynamic aspects using CFD technology. One of the S1 Project Coupè's most impressive elements is undoubtedly its bespoke exhaust system, with the outlets positioned on the bonnet: a feature that not only dramatically improves the performance of the V8 engine but also gives the car a unique and distinctive sound, offering an even more immersive and thrilling dynamic experience.
The ARES S1 Project Speedster is powered by a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated V8 engine with direct injection, connected to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox that sends power to the rear-drive wheels. Its double-wishbone suspensions, forged aluminium axles, and adaptive Magnetic Ride Control assure the handling. Giving voice to this exciting powertrain is an exhaust system with outlets located directly on the rear bonnet. The S1 Project Speedster's bodywork is made entirely of handmade carbon fibre, and its shape has been optimised through in-depth CFD analysis. This extensive aerodynamic study was necessary to ensure that the car has an intelligent and recognisable design, perfect engine cooling and balanced dynamic handling that would be predictable and engaging in both road and track action.
